MANAGING TYPE 2 DIABETES: IMPLEMENTING PRACTICAL STRATEGIES
PART 1: THE CASE OF WILLIAM


Audio-Digest is proud to partner with Joslin Diabetes Center, Inc. to provide you with unlimited access to this CME activity on managing well-established type 2 diabetes. This CME activity is based upon recordings of a virtual consultative discussion between a primary care physician and a diabetes specialist.

The goal of this program is to improve patient care for persons with well-established type 2 diabetes who are not at recommended treatment goals. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician should be able to:
  1. Describe the pathophysiology and natural history of type 2 diabetes and explain the relationship between uncontrolled type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk.
  2. Choose appropriate tests and data collection to help direct the management of well-established type 2 diabetes.
  3. Individualize management plans for patients with well-established type 2 diabetes, focusing on appropriate lifestyle interventions and medical therapies.
  4. Identify barriers to treatment and engage patients in the process of managing their diabetes.
  5. Develop and implement office-based systems to manage treatment and facilitate therapeutic advancement.
